Summer is now coming to an end...

at least for swim lessons that is.  I am sure we still have a few months of incredibly hot weather, but that life around here!

Ava absolutely LOVED her swim lessons this summer.  She had class twice a week for the months of June, July, and August, and went from standing on the steps blowing bubbles in the water to swimming completely on her own!  I am still in awe of that little Amazing Ava and the things she can do.

It took her just a little time and practice to build up the confidence necessary to try out all the new skills she was learning.  What a reminder to us all that we can do anything we put our hearts, minds, and efforts towards.

Ava will now float on her own, swim as far as she can under water while holding her breath, come up to breathe on her own (though she goes a little more vertical and has a hard time to resume swimming), knows pool safety (only going in with an adult), and feels more confident in practicing all these new skills.  I still can't believe how well she is doing.

Ava had a great coach Kathryn during the month of June, and then had coach Michele for July and August.  Ava loved her coaches, and her coaches LOVED her!  They would get such a kick out of the things Ava would say, since she would really treat them like they were just friends of hers...college-aged friends, but friends nonetheless. Michele even brought her a farewell gift, she loved her so much (lollipops, stickers, princess puzzle, and beach ball).

What a great experience we had!  Alex will get to officially join in the fun next year, even though he already got to play along the whole time this year. :)
