Where does the time go? Our little nugget has been growing beautifully and waking up to the world more and more every day. We have seen her go from total observer, to now participant. She engages more, wants to talk, wants to get our attention, and wants to do what we're doing.
We went to the doctor for her check-up and she is doing beautifully. She is strong, she is healthy, and she is just plain delicious.
The doctor asked about different milestones, and Sofia is doing really well. The one milestone that she asked about that I couldn't quite picture at that moment was the pincher grasp. I know that Sofia tends to get finger foods off her plate in more of a fistful, so I couldn't really remember whether or not she was doing that exactly. Of course, soon after the doctor left and Sofia wanted a little nursing snack I realized that yes, Sofia has quite mastered the pincher grasp. In fact, she tends to practice it quite often on my chest while nursing! Sofia tends to pinch the tiniest bit of skin between her pointer and thumb and roll it back and forth while nursing, just a fun little distraction for her and a nice little bruising for me. I literally have had little bruise marks on my chest from that. I almost wanted to call the doctor back in to say "you asked about the pincher grasp and I couldn't quite remember if she had been working on that fine motor skill, but I want to let you know that yes, yes, and yes. Sofia has mastered that fine motor skill, and here is my evidence!" Silly little!
Sofia has also been enjoying school. She is now in the mobile baby room, where she moves around, explores and plays with other babies. Her teacher often sends me text messages with pictures of what she is doing that day - I love it! Her favorite thing seems to be Stretch & Grow, an outside instructor comes in to do yoga, music play, and the beloved parachute where the kids get to go under it. Sofia's class gets to participate too - whether it is exploring maracas, drums, colorful handkerchiefs tossed in the air, or the parachute. Apparently Sofia loves it!
Another of Sofia's new favorites is listening to music. She bobs her head along and bounces as she sits on the ground. That littleness is just like Ava and Alex - music always makes them happy!

February fun!
Since Vovo is getting ready to go to Brazil, she had asked for some pictures of the kids to take to show to Bizinha. I realized I had not gotten any pictures with the "good" camera since Christmas, so everything I have is already old! Sofia is growing and changing so fast, it was time to get some new good pictures. Thankfully we have had a really mild winter, and today was just beautiful outside. So off we went to get some new pictures, only about one million of them, and now I am having a hard time choosing!! :)
