Simply beautiful
Sometimes I just look at my kids and I am in awe. In awe of their existence, in awe of the blessing that they are, in awe of their purity and beauty, and in awe of their awe when looking at the world. I am so grateful and so blessed!!!!

Never a dull moment - a catch-up post
The last few months have been crazy, so I am just going to catch up all these little moments that are all oh so big!
Pre-K Graduation
Can you believe Ava graduated from Pre-K!?! She is a true little girl now, with a strong will and a HUGE desire to learn. We registered for kindergarten and Ava was super excited to go; she was not intimidated or nervous about leaving me to go with a group and a teacher to check out the classrooms. She simply said "Bye, mom!" and took off...I'm not sure I'm ready for this!!!
Alex - a true 3 year old now!
Alex has fully embodied the 3 year old age. He has really begun to dig in his heels - he refuses to eat if told to, changed from being a super neat eater to being much more messy for the fun of it, and has a typical preschooler diet of being one day without appetite and the next day famished! He is still as sweet as can be, though and I can't get enough of him. He continues to show such love and care for his sisters, and loves to try to feed Sofia. The other day I let him help her with yogurt - Alex would tell her "abre boca", "swallow", and they would just giggle themselves silly while I cleaned the kitchen. Of course I turned around to find this:
And the police showed up!
Yep, no rest around here! This happened in late April - Sofia was restless, didn't want to go to sleep, so I let her just play in the tv room downstairs with me while Ava and Alex were sleeping upstairs and Daddy was catching up on work in the office. It was around 9pm, but Sofia was well into her second wind. She had grabbed the phone and was playing with it, pushing buttons, and did not want to give it to me. She managed to turn it on a couple times, but I would grab it and hang it up. Around 9:15pm, the phone rang and I couldn't believe a telemarketer was calling that late, I hung up on it as I usually do so as not to wake up Ava and Alex. About 5 minutes later I heard a loud knock at the front door. Daddy got up to answer it, and I was alarmed that someone was knocking so late. Daddy opened the door to a police officer who asked if we had called the police. Daddy answered "No", looked at me and asked "did you?" - then I realized Sofia must have! I picked up the phone, scrolled through the redial log and sure enough, she managed to call 911! The police officer thought it was a little funny, told Sofia not to do that, and went on his way. ...i still can't believe she did that!!!
Bugs, bugs, bugs
Ava used to not be so fond of bugs, but she has become more intrigued - especially when it comes to rolly pollies. She will collect TONS of them in her hand - ai que aflicao!!!!

Amazing to see what Ava learns at school
I didn't realize how proficient Ava had become at writing her letters. I am always fascinated to see her pick things up. She was just playing while I was cooking, then said - Hey Mom, look what I did!! ;) Amazing!
Whistling
Ava used to "whistle" by humming a really high pitched note that actually could fool most people into thinking that she could whistle. But now, she has actually mastered a real whistle. I have a hard time whistling, but Ava will just whistle while she works - she actually makes me think I am hearing some old man whistling away to old tunes, until I realize it's my 5 year old! Alex now too is figuring it all out - he will cheat with the high pitched vocal note sometimes, but then will manage to do a real whistle every once in a while too!! This house is about to get really noisy! haha
Thank God for babysitters
I realize I cannot do everything on my own, and lately I have been getting even more behind (as is evident by this very post). So I did what any logical mama would do - I found a babysitter. The kids were totally on board with getting an older kid to come play with them, they thought it was a super cool idea. So now we have Hannah, a 17 year old referred to me by a neighbor mama friend, come babysit for a couple hours a couple times a week so that I can get more work done and not be so frazzled by the end of the day. Delegation is key to success after all ;)
Oh how we have multiplied!!!
The other day we got to get together with Andy, Leslie and the boys (Greyson, Asher, Quinn, and Dexter) to play at our house. The kids get along so well together and it is always fun to see them. I do wish they lived closer so we could get together more often, but alas that is not the case - so we take what we can get. We couldn't help but get a few pictures of us all together...considering it used to be just the 4 of us, and now we stand at a total of 11!!!! :)

Hide and Seek
Nothing like a good game of hide and seek, and Alex has found the best hiding spot. He will giggle himself silly and give it away, but there is nothing funnier than finding your little one hiding on top of a shelf, behind Daddy's clothes, in the closet.
