To celebrate Sofia's birthday, we celebrated a few times. Sofia got to have cupcakes on her actual birthday at home in the evening with Vovo and Voovoo, who had come over. She also got to have cupcakes at school with her classmates and teachers, and then we combined it with our Mother's day weekend celebration. We have all been sick for the past few weeks, so low key was perfectly fine with us.
So just in case you can't get enough of her, here is a little bit about Sofia:
- Her first steps were taken on mommy's birthday late at night. She would only practice undercover, when no one was really watching and now she can take up to about 8 steps on her own.
- The ostrich foldover - her signature, dramatic, fall-to-the-ground, fold herself in half, with her head buried at her knees to express any kind of true discontent.
- will not perform for anyone - Sofia marches to the beat of her own drum and will not perform for anyone, she works on things at her own pace, and only shares when she feels like it (e.g. walking, or any other milestone)
- mama, aya, ah-ye, dadada - these are her names for Mommy, Ava, Alex, and Daddy
- lerolerolerolero - her latest favorite sound to make
- clicking of her tongue - Sofia loves the suction part of clicking her tongue really loud!
- Sofia loves playing with Ava & Alex, especially peekaboo or tunnel (tungle as Alex calls it)
- This little one loves food - all fruits, most vegetables, and anything everyone else is eating - just forget about the baby food though
- starting to transition to cup - Now that she is mastering it, she enjoys sharing how she knows how to do it - though she will often spill if you give her too much liquid in her cup, as her tip is a little overzealous
- loves applause - Sofia gets quite a kick out of being applauded for her valiant attempts at new things
- loves to nurse - not really sure how or when this little one will wean
- pats Alex's back to sleep - Since Sofia is not so much into sleep herself, she enjoys putting her siblings to bed and wants to pat Alex's back...though it is more of a game than really trying to help him fall asleep
- sleep challenges - We hit all other milestones in record speed, but Mommy and Daddy are quite inept at figuring this one out...as long as she is sleeping through the night by high school, we're good!
- 6 teeth with 6 more coming in! Poor Sofia is a teething machine at the moment, but nothing soothes it like ice cream. Sofia LOVES ice cream!
