Sleepy Sofia

'There's nothing like watching a baby sleep.  Whether it's on Voovoo's lap, out by the pool, hanging out on the couch, or in her personal recliner, Sofia looks so sweet and peaceful.  It is actually quite calming for me to just sit and watch her, realizing that it is possible to achieve that kind of zen.

(she may be on the outside now, but this position is exactly how she felt when she was inside me...guess some things stay the same!)

love the "prayer" feet!

exactly how mommy likes to sleep too!

Sofia's two week update

So blessed!  That's all I can say!

We took Sofia to her two week check-up at the pediatrician's office.  Her pediatrician, Dr. Koush, had not seen her yet, as we had been visited by her counterparts while at the hospital.  She was happy to finally meet Sofia and really wanted to hear the full version of Sofia's exciting birth story (she said that Sofia's medical record is already quite lengthy from all the details the doctors have included about her exciting entrance into this world! haha!)

After telling Dr. Koush all the details, Sofia was weighed, measured, and checked out.  Dr. Koush laughed when she saw that Sofia had already gained one whole pound in only 10 days, saying "looks like she is eating quite well! The tongue tie the lactation consultants mentioned to you is certainly nothing to worry about, she is latching on and eating just fine!".

Sofia weighed in at 8 lbs 1 oz and measured 21 inches long... it's amazing to think she grew so much in such a short period of time!  This little one actually falls into the 50th percentile for weight, though Dr. Koush was not worried about her falling off that growth curve...since we know that's what my kids tend to do and they are perfectly healthy! :)

Again, so blessed!

Summer is here!!!

Summer has officially begun around here!  The temperature is already in the 80s and low 90s and its time to bring out the baby pool to cool off in the backyard.  After all, there is nothing like playing with water when it's hot outside.  Luckily, Grammy also thought of this and gave Alex this cute little pool for his birthday, so the kids were more than happy to have me fill it up so they could play outside.

Time in the big pool is great too!  Even Sofia gets in the fun!  She may be little, but since it was quite overcast and cooler this beautiful May late afternoon, we went ahead and took her to the neighborhood pool.  She also has enjoyed a few shaded days at Vovo and Voovoo's pool too!

my little gymnast

I'm really not sure where Ava learned how to do cartwheels, since I have not been the one showing her on account of her sister Sofia growing inside of my making gymnastics a "no-no" for a while.  But somehow she learned, figured out how to get better at it, and has been working on doing cartwheels in both directions.  I have not gotten a good video yet, but this one captures some practice cartwheels :)

Sofia's one week photo shoot ;)

I couldn't resist! Ava, Alex, and Sofia all had great naps this afternoon, all were in a giggly good mood, awake at the same time, so out came the camera and the silliness!  I took about 100 pictures, but could only narrow it down this far.  Enjoy!! :)

Mother's Day

We had a wonderful Mother's Day celebration with everyone at our house - Vovo, Voovoo, Grammy, Grandpa, and our little family of five, plus Bo.

I got to have a postpartum massage by Patti first thing in the morning to help put me back together again (it's amazing to think that after a 2 hour massage that my rib cage could measure .5 inches less, my waist down by 2 inches, and my hips by .5 inches!!).  Then we had a delicious lunch, the kids all took naps, and we just enjoyed a gorgeous day - sunny, low humidity, just around 80 degrees.

So relaxing, I couldn't ask for more...

Alex and "baby P-ho-fia" (as Alex tends to pronounce - I don't think I'll ever get tired of hearing him say it!)
